Care Guide for Your Layered Wood Sign

Thank you for choosing a handcrafted piece of art from our studio! Follow these simple steps to ensure your sign remains vibrant and beautiful for years to come.

Where to Hang Your Sign

Your sign is durable, but it is not designed to be fully exposed to the elements.

  • Best Location (Recommended): Indoors, or on a covered entryway, porch, or deck where it is sheltered from direct rain and prolonged sun exposure.
  • Avoid: Direct, intense sunlight (which can cause fading) and areas where water will sit or pool on the surface.

Simple Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Dusting: Use a soft, dry cloth or a can of compressed air to gently remove dust from the layered surfaces.
  • Cleaning: If necessary, wipe the sign lightly with a slightly damp (not wet) cloth. Do not use chemical cleaning sprays, as these can damage the stain and protective clear coat.
  • Extreme Weather: During the deep freeze of winter or extreme humidity, bringing the sign indoors can help prolong its life.

A Note on Natural Wood

No two signs are the same!
Since your sign is made from natural wood, you might see small, unique characteristics:

  • Grain Variation: No two pieces are exactly alike!
    • Slight differences in wood grain and how the stain absorbs are part of the charm of a custom wood product.
  • Layered Construction: The distinct layers of wood are intentionally designed to be dimensional and stand out. In some pieces, layers that overhang backing pieces may be more fragile. Please handle with care!
